Cold War is a mod for Men of War: Assault Squad 2, created by xXJ2017Xx.
Description:
The action takes place in an alternative reality different from our invention of an effective and relatively cheap way of destroying the means of a nuclear attack. After saturation of the air defense of NATO with anti-nuclear emitters, the last factor that kept the Alliance from attacking Russia and China disappeared.
The main single player campaign allows the player to fight for Russian motorized rifles, paratroopers and special forces. Additional campaigns reveal the themes of wars in Chechnya and Iraq, and also supplement the main campaign. All missions support cooperative passage, some are suitable for the cooperative more, some were developed mainly for single-player games. Part of the missions of the main campaign supports the transfer of troops and the results of the battle to the next mission.
Multiplayer basically includes the principle of the division of troops by birth into a small number of teams - specialized groups that prefer a certain tactic, performing a certain role in combat and equipped with a certain technique. Examples:
- Russian motorized rifles or the US Army. In the arms of tanks and infantry. They are in direct contact with the enemy, they keep the front.
- VCS RF or the US Air Force. In service with aircraft and helicopters for various purposes. Provide air support to ground troops, destroy tanks, long-range artillery and air defense.
- Artillery and air defense. In the arsenal of artillery, MLRS and military air defense. Artillery and missile strikes are made along the front and rear, covering the ground parts from air strikes.
At the beginning of the battle the player chooses one of the brigades. After that, he can only acquire specialized troops of the selected brigade and public troops, but is deprived of access to the specialized forces of other brigades. The brigade can be changed during the battle, but the change takes several minutes, during which the call of any reinforcements is impossible.
There are various types of multiplayer battles, including the 'Tank Biathlon' competition - the race and shooting at the time on the reconstructed Alabino test track.
Mod demonstrates a large number of various techniques and weapons, from pistols to tactical missile systems. The weapon is configured in accordance with the characteristics of real prototypes - to the extent that it is possible on the GEM2 game engine and within the published in open source data. Where real parameters can not be set (for example, the range of fire), different scales of translation are used. Scp containment breach gate a. The developers of fashion believe that the transfer of technical characteristics of troops close to reality allows achieving a game balance. The entertainment of the game is realized not at the expense of realism.
The role of the player is the commander of the company or battalion level, so some attention is paid to ensuring that troops under the control of the computer can independently use the new capabilities of the mod without overloading the player. For example, the refusal to manually escort the target while controlling the ATGM (after all, it is not the company, but the ATGM operator) that allows artificial intelligence to effectively apply them independently or in conjunction with the player.

Men of War is a real-time tactics video game franchise, based mainly in World War II.[1]
Main series[edit]
Soldiers: Heroes of World War II[edit]
Soldiers: Heroes of World War II is the original game of the 'Men of War' series, and uses an early GEM engine. The player can control German, British, American or Soviet soldiers in single and multiplayer. As with many of the Men of War games, the missions are based on leading a small amount of forces into battle against a larger enemy. The goal is to use military tactics in the simulation to overcome the enemy with minimal losses.
Faces of War[edit]
Faces of War is the sequel to Soldiers: Heroes of World War II, with new features added onto the GEM engine. The player can now freely move the camera with a now fully 3D engine, and can destroy virtually anything in the environment. Although the player still controls a smaller group of units, the missions are usually on a more massive scale, rather than small special operations. This aspect includes AI units allied to the player, more enemy units and more vehicles. The multiplayer also has been expanded, with more options, modes and larger battles.
Men of War[edit]
Men of War was the first to be put under the Men of War name. At the time of release, it had the largest single player campaign. The game includes enhanced graphics compared to Faces of War, and a more expansive single and multiplayer. Part of the single player game reverts back to the Soldiers: Heroes of World War II style of battles, with control of a small squad being put in the hands of the player against a larger enemy. Other single player missions require the player to control larger forces in defense of an area, although even those missions provide the player with an outnumbered force. Larger battles usually require the player to eventually assault the enemy rather than defend, if the latter had been given. The multiplayer expanded beyond the standard of Faces of War, with a larger number of maps of bigger size. Also included were four factions (Germany, the UK, America and the Soviet Union), which eventually was increased to five with the introduction of Japan in a patch (only in multiplayer).
Men of War: Red Tide[edit]
Men of War: Red Tide is the first of the standalone 'expansions' to Men of War. The game is slightly enhanced from Men of War via its minor bug fixes and tweaks. The game includes the largest single player campaign in the Men of War series, with 28 missions across 6 campaigns. The game does not, however, include any multiplayer features which became a major criticism. The single player is based on the feats of the Naval Infantry of the Black Sea Fleet in World War II. The missions are generally longer and extensively brutal compared to the other games.
Men of War: Assault Squad[edit]
Men of War: Assault Squad was the first game in the Men of War series to not have a story based campaign. Assault Squad is instead geared more towards massive scale multiplayer battles, and is the first in the series to be based mainly on multiplayer. The game also builds on a more massive scale battle system. The game is also geared more towards large amounts of infantry, which works hand in hand with the ability to select a larger squad of troops. Infantry are less valuable than in previous titles, and can sometimes be considered cannon fodder. The game also has more multiplayer maps, enhanced graphics, more vehicles and infantry and more. A large array of vehicles and infantry are available, with stats according to the unit price. For example, a group of riflemen would have only basic rifles, grenades, and occasionally only field caps. On the other hand, the elite unit would have an upgraded health, anti-tank grenades, helmets and better weaponry. The game includes Germany, Great Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union and Japan as playable factions, each with a large array of tanks, guns, vehicles and infantry. The game also has skirmish missions, which are on a similar scale and somewhat similar style as multiplayer, but are faced off against a large defending AI force and can be played online. Multiple DLC were released, adding skirmishes and multiplayer maps. A Game Of The Year edition was released after all the DLC was released.
Men of War: Vietnam[edit]
Men of War: Vietnam is the first and only official Men of War game to not be set in World War II, instead set in the Vietnam War. The game contains two single player campaigns. One of the campaigns is based on the story of two Soviet military consultants and two North Vietnamese soldiers caught stranded in enemy territory after being ambushed. The squad finds themselves caught up in the Tet Offensive on their long escape back to North Vietnamese territory. The other campaign is based on the story of five American elite special operations soldiers in North Vietnam in special operations and full scale battles accompanied occasionally by friendly American and South Vietnamese soldiers. The game contains multiplayer, however it is not a focus. The campaign is also relatively short, however it is somewhat brutal. The game is based mostly on the assets of the World War II games, with only a small group of tanks, vehicles, weapons, and troops being new. A deluxe edition was released.
Men of War: Condemned Heroes[edit]
Men of War: Condemned Heroes is based on the stories of the penal military units of the Soviet Union during World War II. Much like the more successful Red Tide, the game contains a more historical basis, with an encyclopedia accompanying the player through the campaign. The encyclopedia tells about the true stories of the penal units. The missions in the game are specifically brutal, much like Red Tide and Vietnam. The player controls sections of a large number of penal unit troops on the Eastern Front. The player will lead the troops in anywhere from base assaults, to trench assaults, to sabotage, to full battles and more. Most are on a grand scale and are usually filled with AI controlled allied forces that support the player. Multiplayer is included, unlike Red Tide, however it is not a focus of the game.
Men of War: Assault Squad 2[edit]
Men of War: Assault Squad 2 is one of the latest titles in the Men of War series. The game is a grand remaster of the original Assault Squad, however it contains a heavily modified and enhanced GEM engine. Beyond the major graphical improvements, the game also includes Steam workshop support, extensive mod support, more maps and skirmish missions, and enhanced engine capabilities (multi-core utilization). The multiplayer is on a much larger and extensive scale, with more modes and units. Steam matchmaking integration is also presented on a much more dedicated scale.
Assault Squad 2: Men of War Origins[edit]
Assault Squad 2: Men of War Origins is a DLC for Men of War: Assault Squad 2. Initially, this game was a standalone expansion for Men of War: Assault Squad 2 but it became a DLC for Men of War: Assault Squad 2 shortly after. Assault Squad 2: Men of War Origins is a remaster of the original Men of War(2009) based on the modified and enhanced Assault Squad 2 GEM engine. Along with the release of Men of War Origins, a large free update with enhanced models from Men of War Origins was released for Men of War: Assault Squad 2. The original campaign of Men of War is included, although enhanced and modified for modernization. Multiplayer is included in the style of Men of War.

Men of War: Assault Squad (Russian: В тылу врага 2: Штурм, or Behind Enemy Lines 2: Storm), is a real-time tactics / strategy game set in World War II. It is a standalone expansion pack for the 2009 game Men of War.
Development[edit]
In the development of Assault Squad it was decided to focus more on the infantry part of the game. It adds 15 new missions, improved graphics, Great Britain and Japan as new factions, and a few new units. There was also a temporary name, where A4 defines the build name (Men of War is A3).[2]
On April 27, 2011 DMS released the first official DLC for the Men of War series. The MP Supply Pack Alpha features five multiplayer maps for Men of War: Assault Squad.
Before release the game had an exclusive testing phase via payment. After several months of testing DMS offered an open beta if the Men of War: Assault Squad Steam group reached 10,000 players. The target was reached and the game was released in an open beta. After the first beta ended, DMS offered another open beta before release if the Steam group reached 20,000 players. The second beta was opened and stayed available until the game was released.
Gameplay[edit]
Assault Squad is primarily a real-time tactics game, but veers more toward strategy than its predecessors due to the absence of any 'fixed force' (i.e. no reinforcements) scenarios. It is driven by an intricate simulation that tracks ammunition and fuel, inventories for each and every unit, cover and line of sight, tank combat with penetration and deflection of shells, field of view, and much more beside.
While Assault Squad is geared toward multiplayer, the new co-op Skirmish mode can be played offline without a partner.
Like earlier games in the series, Assault Squad includes a 'direct control' feature that allows the player to take control of any unit on the field. This allows fine control during firefights, such as priming grenades before throwing and aiming for specific parts on a tank.
The multiplayer uses the GameSpy client and has a built in Elo rating system. Multiplayer matches can take place on dozens of maps and between the game's five factions. New multiplayer maps are released as DLC.
Infantry Combat[edit]
Each soldier in Men of War is a self-contained unit controllable by the player using a traditional real time strategy control scheme or through direct control. Every soldier has an inventory consisting of ammunition, weapons, and equipment. While a rifleman might have single frag grenade, elite troops like Rangers or Panzergrenadiers, might have a pair of anti tank grenades and several anti personnel grenades as well as advanced equipment like anti tank rifles or dynamite. Equipment and weapons can be collected from dead soldiers or the ground, or transferred between units.
The game features sophisticated cover based combat as well as deployable sandbags and support weaponry. Vmware layer how to installl esxi usb. Infantry can take cover and as the environment will block line of sight and projectiles, laying in ambush or fortifying strategic points like bridges or town squares gives a tactical advantage.
Each of the five factions have different squads of infantry as well as several support infantry such as flamethrowers, snipers, minelayers, and anti tank specialists.
Tank Mechanics[edit]
Assault Squad features a realistic impact system to tank and vehicle armor. Every gun in the game has its own individual penetration values and characteristics. How projectiles interact with armor on impact depends on the range, angle, and strength of the shot, along with many other deciding factors. Projectiles are also capable of penetrating multiple vehicles or ricocheting and causing collateral damage.
An example of a Tiger I angling away to deflect a shot. On the left, the hit indicator is green, showing a high chance of penetration, while the right shows a low chance.
Unlike many other games, tanks have no health point bar, but are instead separated into parts. A shell to the turret, if penetrated, may severely cripple it and disable its rotation. If the gun is damaged, the tank will be unable to fire, while a shot to the engine may result in a fire that will burn out the tank.Tanks can also be de-tracked or simply shot in the hull, which may injure or kill crew members.
Depending on the size of the shell fired and chance, a shot may damage the tank to the point that the crew will abandon the tank. If the tank's hull has not been destroyed, the tank owner or the enemy may be able to repair the tank.
Other support units[edit]
Like most other RTS games, there are also off-map assets such as air and artillery strikes which can be called in on enemy positions if the player has acquired enough MP, these powerful attacks have a cool down time to avoid over use by the player, and certain attacks, such as airstrikes, can be countered by both the enemy AI and hostile players by use of anti aircraft units.
Other features[edit]
The game features five factions with unique units, specialties, strengths, and weaknesses. The factions in Assault Squad are the United States Army, the Imperial Japanese Army, German Wehrmacht, the British Commonwealth Forces, and the Soviet Red Army, each with its own campaign. Each nation also features special abilities or unique 'elite' units; the American forces can call in large airstrikes, the British have access to SAS units, the Japanese can spawn a large number of light tanks, and so on.
Critical reception[edit]
The game holds an 89.62% rating on GameRankings[3] and currently has an average of 77/100 based on 20 critic reviews on Metacritic.[4] Brett Todd of GameSpot had given the game 8 out of 10, praising its tough, brilliant and aggressive AI.[5]
Modding[edit]
Just like previous Men of War titles, Men of War: Assault Squad has spawned a large number of mods and addons. The majority of additions to the game are hosted on Mod DB.[6]
